How to licnence Realtor.ca DDF API

We are building a home valuation app - targeting curious buyers, experienced buyers, and builders who don’t want to have realtors in between thus providing a financial advantage to both parties. It appears there is no way to license the Realtor.ca DDF API ? The only way is to become realtor - is it correct?

@Morgan and other experts - any advise?

While that is likely best answered by CREA (providers of Realtor.ca and DDF), your assumption is likely correct.

It’s exactly because of how you want to use the data that you’re not permitted to have it.

CREA is a “Realtor®” owned / run association, and they work for, and represent Realtors®

Why would they want to give you access to their data to create an app that helps people (your words) “who don’t want to have realtors in between thus providing a financial advantage to both parties

Also, your underlying premise is also incorrect… not having a Realtor® involved rarely leads to a “better” financial outcome for both sides. So there’s that…

Sorry Gagan, Realtors® own the data (and the ability to distribute it) they aren’t going to give it to you in order to have you replace them in the transaction.

If you want access to real estate data, you need to find a way to partner with Realtors® and enable them. Not compete with them.

@Morgan Thank you for providing the insight - My app is still in the prototype phase and finding the business use cases and I 100% agree with you. I will refine my model so that it can benefit Realtors as well. Sites like honestdoor, REV do provide SOLD data - honestdoor particularly is not a brokerage and still has data - I assume they partner with Realtor®?

You would have to ask them.
