Here are a few tips:
Meta description length. Google tends to truncate between 155-160 characters. Try to keep it within this length.
Not “too short” you also don’t want to have a short meta description as that looks strange in the SERPS.
Meta description doesn’t directly affect SEO. Google has stated that meta description does not affect your SEO rankings however it is still important as it is what users see in the search engines under your page title.
Increased CTR click-through rate. The Click through rate is the main reason you want have a great meta description. This is the percentage of people who click on your result divided by the amount of people who have seen it. There is some evidence that higher CTR’s actually help your rankings so it is well worth taking the time to write great descriptions.
Pro tip? Think about the main things your potential visitors typed into google. If they read your title and then your meta description does it make them want to click to learn more? Is it highly targeted and relevant to their query?
