Introduce yourself 2023 - get to know the REW Community members!

Hey, all! My name is Jesse Brossa and I am a residential real estate agent that works primarily in South & Coastal Orange County in California (Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, San Clemente, Irvine, San Juan Capistrano, Coto de Caza, etc).

My real estate website is www.ocexclusives.com and I’ve been a customer of REW for about a year now, but a fan for a long time… still just barely beginning to build it out to where I want it… (does that ever end?)

I’ve been selling residential real estate for almost 17 years now; currently with Compass… I’m a Director on the Laguna Board of REALTORS (4+ years now), their Gov’t Affairs Committee Co-Chair (5+ years) and a member of the Board of Directors for California Association of REALTORS now, too (just found out that’s what my title is… just started that this year)…

The Gov’t Affairs position keeps me engaged in a wide range of real estate-oriented legislative issues from state to local levels… things like property tax changes, landlord/tenant bills, coastal land use policy issues (sea level rise planning & adaptation, blufftop/coastline development, etc), historic ordinances, and on and on…

Pro-tip for any coastal agents interested in sea level rise (SLR) planning – check out Smart Coast California – they are an awesome group founded a few years ago by a small group of Boards that grew to include all the coastal Boards in CA in an effort to aggregate coastal land use policy for the betterment of municipalities, agents, our clients, city planners, etc. I think they’ll be setting the bar for the conversation at the national level for years to come…

Prior to real estate, I was a co-founder of a couple of small tech + marketing start-ups… which has definitely helped (and probably also hurt me) over the years… was great experience to leverage when I got into the business… once upon I time, I ruled the real estate internet down here, but long gone are the halcyon days of phones ringing endlessly with new leads… the downside to knowing a bit about design + programming is that I always wanted to produce the product myself, which led me to build and re-build my real estate business websites forever… finally threw in the towel and signed up for the undisputed best-in-class service + platform at REW and haven’t been disappointed… SO worth it!

Fun Stuff

  1. Almost all of the photos on www.ocexclusives.com are mine… studied photography in college and have spent 20+ years photographing the local area… the challenge at this point is really deploying the content meaningfully… Feel like I’m in photo + video content overload mode lately…

  2. For all my non-RE photos, I post them here:

www.jessebrossa.com

  1. I’ve got a huge list of OC neighborhood domain names that I don’t do anything with anymore… haven’t had the time or energy to deploy them but don’t feel good about getting rid of them, so paying ~$1,000/year just to own them… Community call – ditch ‘em or keep ‘em?

Nice to meet you all here… hope to up my engagement on the forums!

Great to have you Daven! Thanks for the intro!

Awesome to have you Larry (looking forward to your Renaissance upgrade!)

100+ transactions per year… impressive! Congrats on your success.

Love your philosophy of ongoing relationships and support for the win. So much easiest to maintain trusted relationships than constantly be trying to hunt new ones. The best consultants know this (harder than it sounds since net new is so addictive)

Cheers!

Oh man! This is dangerous (knowing what “can” be done can lead to always trying to do it!) hah!

Love the intro Jesse! And thank you for your kind praise of Real Estate Webmasters.

Those photos? Not only do they look great, but they are a great link-building asset. If you’re ever interested in ideas on how you can approach that, feel free to start a thread on it in the SEO group and we can chat there.

Also, you gave a nice pro-tip, so I will as well. WebP Your Photos! (Do you know how to process/format into WebP?)

This format allows for far better image compression with less loss to image integrity. It’s the #1 thing we recommend for folks trying to improve their WPO (web performance optimization) scores. Check it out above, and again if you need WPO tips, feel free to find the right forum here and start a thread on any of that stuff. WPO is one of those things that is worth digging into. Great for user experience and search engines love it (Warning it’s addictive)

On your domain question - I want to say sell them, but I can’t.

Over my 25 years on the web, I have been surprised (more than once) with offers to buy domain names I didn’t even think had that much value. And I’m talking 6 figures in some case.

In fact, I bought my first home cash (no debt) off of a domain sale. Can you believe that?

So depending on how good they actually are, you never know!

I also own https://www.losangelesrealestate.com just waiting for someone to come along and make me a stupid offer for it heh.

Tough call - I’d keep em if $1,000 doesn’t impact your lifestyle to keep paying if they are good.

Hi everyone! I’m Carrie Baker and I lead all things ‘People’ at Real Estate Webmasters, as the Head of People Operations. I have had the pleasure of working with this amazing team for the past 16 years. The team at REW is truly the BEST!

When I am not at work, you will find me out doors in my garden, or hitting the trails with my 27 year old daughter Kennedy and her pup Winnie.

Hello Everyone!
My name is Aayaam and I lead our Product and Agency teams at REW. It’s my sixth year here but feels like just yesterday when I joined this team of unbelievably talented people! :fire:

I am passionate about building, breaking, and re-building cool tech and have been fortunate to lead and work with some of the best product folks in India, UK, US and Canada for over 16 years now.

I am blessed to be married to an amazing woman (& a teacher), and together we have two little adorable monsters (2 and 4). As my better half puts it, “our days feel longer but weeks and years feel unbelievably shorter” however we wouldn’t have it any other way!

It’s lovely to meet you all here and look forward to getting to know you more!

PS: If you happen to be in Vancouver, hit me up for a cup of coffee or pint to talk about the latest tech trends in RE (& beyond), winning poker strategies, and/or maybe even planning a :motorcycle: trip in Himalayas!

Hello everyone!

My name is Hanna, I’ve been part of the Customer Support team here at REW for 1 1/2 years now. Besides the day-to-day support, I also work on Concierge and some Implementation projects. I love concierge as it gives me the opportunity to build relationships with clients and I really enjoy helping improve their sites.

My husband and I have two (mostly) wonderful kids, aged 12 and 8, and when I’m not working I love spending time outdoors, snowboarding in the winter, hiking and camping in the summer, and running all year long.

And as for pets, sadly we lost our dog Scooby a few years ago and just don’t have the time to commit to a new puppy yet, but we’ll definitely have a dog again one day!

Hello everyone! I am loving these introductions and getting to know you all.
Here’s mine!

My name is Stephanie Penney and I have been with REW approaching two years now. I started as an Implementation Specialist and was quickly promoted to Account Management. I love what I do and I love my team!

Before REW, I worked in luxury hospitality management. I’ve moved back and forth across Canada several times but have called British Columbia my home for the last 4 years. I can’t get enough of the ocean, lakes, and mountains considering most of my hobbies revolve around these environments. In my spare time, I stay pretty active as I love snowboarding, hockey, pole fitness, paddle boarding, dirt biking, and travelling! I love visiting new places, experiencing the local culture and trying new foods. I am also very passionate about music and being crafty (I love making costumes for Halloween, themed events, etc).

Aloha! Evan Harlow from Maui, my site is www.mauieliteproperty.com

I’ve worked with REW as my website platform since I went full-time in real estate in 2020 and have since closed a little over 65M. I’m blessed to work in an area with really high average sales prices and amazing properties. I’m a huge SEO nerd and that’s why I went with REW. I recently closed a 9.75M deal off a blog article about moving to Maui. It takes time but it’s worth the work, your website will be what you make it, so make it awesome!
